MILTON, Del. - Carpenter Farms s celebrating the completion of its 70th harvest season with a giant light display on Carpenter Road. The display shows how agriculture has evolved from horse-drawn implements to GPS guided tractors.
James Carpenter grew up asking for a new farm set for Christmas every year and ended up purchasing Carpenter Farms with his parents in 1950. Family members of the 4th generation farm designed and put together the display on the 235 acre farm.
The display includes a 1953 Ford Jubilee Tractor, a 1960 Minneapolis Moline M5 and a 1979 White 2-155 Tractor. It took more than 100 hours to put 4,000 lights on two John Deere tractors, a 9,250 case combine, an Oxbo pea and lima harvester, a dump cart and a 1,200 bushel grain cart.
The display will light up every night from 5 p.m. to midnight until January 3rd.
