(MILFORD, Del.) - Here she is, your Miss Delaware 2015 Brooke Mitchell.
"When they announced me as the winner I was just in complete shock, I had so much excitement running through me," said Mitchell.
She has been competing in pageants since the young age of six when she won Little Miss Sussex County.
The reason she began competing was because it benefited the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a foundation that was close to her heart because of an ill friend.
Since that very first pageant, Mitchell has been competing in pageants and volunteering more than 3,000 hours.
In the past year alone, she has earned more than $700 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and has participated in volunteering for numerous organizations.
Now that Mitchell is crowned Miss Delaware, she wasted no time prepping for the 2016 Miss America pageant that is less than three months away.
"I just met my trainer yesterday, so we've discussed a workout plan and when I'll be able to see him and he's saying absolutely three times a week I have to be in Dover. That's kind of a far drive for me so I'm going to be with him a lot and be working at home a lot as well. Also, I'm going to be keeping up with current events with mock interviews," explained Brooke.
The residents of Milford wanted to wish Brooke good luck in her quest for the Miss America crown.
The 2016 Miss America pageant will be held in Atlantic City on Sept. 13, 2015.
