(CLAYMONT, Del.)- The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating Monday morning's building fire in Claymont that heavily damaged an occupied apartment building.
The blaze, reported shortly before 2:00 am, occurred at 31 Harbor Drive in the Harbor House apartment complex.
The Claymont Fire Company arrived on the scene with smoke pouring from the three story building.
State fire investigators are on the scene searching for the fire's origin and cause. The three story building housed twelve units. Nine of the units were rented and three designated for use by management. Approximately twenty people have been displaced.
The fire was contained to the rental office on the ground floor.
Heavy fire damage is estimated at $50,000. There were no reported injuries. The American Red Cross was providing emergency assistance from the fire scene.
This fire remains under investigation.
