ALDI Celebrates Grand Opening in Rehoboth Beach

REHOBOTH BEACH, DE — On Thursday, ALDI celebrated the grand opening of its new location in Rehoboth Beach— the first in Sussex County.

The building took place of the Kmart which closed in early 2020.

After a soft opening on Wednesday, shoppers waited outside the entrance before the ribbon-cutting that took place at 8:30 a.m.

"A lot of people around here couldn't wait for it to open up, it seemed like it took forever for it to get it ready, but the day's arrived. and, evidence by the crowds that are coming in, I'm sure it's going to be a hit as time goes on," Tim Bane, a Sussex County resident, said.

Delawarians shopping in ALDI had to travel to Dover or Wilmington.

"I work down here, so I can stop and get milk or something on the way home. or groceries. They have great stuff here; great prices," Shirley Davis, a frequent shopper, said.
