CoastLife welcomes Mackenzie Reed, President of OCD Delaware, and Dr. Kathy Rupertus, Vice President, to raise awareness about obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and the misconceptions surrounding it. Mackenzie shares her personal journey of living with severe OCD and how her experiences inspired her to help establish OCD Delaware, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by OCD and related conditions. Together, they explain why OCD goes far beyond stereotypes about cleanliness and organization, the importance of recognizing symptoms, and how greater awareness can help people access effective treatment sooner. They also preview OCD Awareness Week, October 11–17, when Delaware Legislative Hall and the Indian River Inlet Bridge will glow teal each night to help shine a light on OCD and the importance of understanding and support. 💙
