(GEORGETOWN, Del.)- A former Delaware State Senate hopeful, Eric Bodenweiser was sentenced to 1 year Level 5, suspended for 1 year Level 3 (supervised probation) as to each count of third degree unlawful sexual contact.
Bodenweiser was all smiles and waves as he walks hand in hand with his wife to the "Sussex County Court House".
Inside is where Judge E. Scott Bradley would hand down Bodenweiser's fate.
Though the former state senate hopeful didn't look too worried as he laughed and smiled with his defense team prior to sentencing.
His wife sat not too far behind him and had a uncomfortable expression on her mug.
During sentencing both sides had nothing to say before Judge Bradley.
And at the snap of a finger Judge Bradley went on to sentence Bodenweiser to one year of supervised probation-- the highest form of probation.
Bodenweiser's attorney, said both sides are happy with Friday's outcome.
"They acted very professionally in what they did and very realistically," he said. "Both sides came to an agreement that under all these unusual circumstances it was a fair resolution."
He was ordered to register as a tier 1 sex offender. Bodenweiser is prohibited from contact with the victim and unsupervised minors.
Bodenweiser had a plea hearing earlier this year for a deal he and his attorney, Joe Hurley worked out with the State's Attorney.
Under the deal, Bodenweiser pleaded no-contest to two counts of unlawful sexual contact in the third degree.
This all stems from allegations that Bodenweiser molested a minor on a number of occasions between 1987 and 1991.
