HARRINGTON, Del.- Pig races. Roller coasters. Tractors.
Just a few of the fun activities at the Delaware State Fair. The final day was busy with visitors getting one last chance to get on some rides, eat some food, and take in everything the fairgrounds have to offer.
One event that will not take place this evening is the scheduled concert. Zach Williams tested positive for COVID-19 and must quarantine for ten days. Assistant General Manager & Director or Marketing Danny Aguilar explains how difficult a cancellation and shuffling of events can be.
"It’s never easy to cancel something that you work so long and hard and people anticipate and get excited for," Aguilar said. "They literally plan their day when they are going to go to the fair based off of the concert."
The show must go on though and the rest of the fair continues to be up and running during the final hours. Jed Winter's family used the day to get out and have some fun.
"It’s an absolutely beautiful day. Weather is great," Winter said. "Enjoying great company and the pigs and the animals."
Aguilar says that this year’s crowd should be close to matching the 2019 mark.
"2019 was our centennial celebration," Aguilar said. "That was a record-breaking 328,000 attendants so we are trending very close in line with that number as well."
The state fair is open until 11 p.m. tonight. Tickets can still be purchased at the gate or online at https://www.delawarestatefair.com/.
