(DEWEY BEACH, Del.) - Preparations are underway for the 21st annual running of the bull at The Starboard, which will begin tomorrow morning.
It is a fun, safer version of the bull run which takes place every summer in Spain.
"Running of the Bull is one of the silliest, craziest, fun events you'll ever see. It's just grown and grown because everyone that comes, comes back and unfortunately brings 10 friends so we can't fit them all anymore," said Starboard owner Steve Montgomery.
Thousands of people from near and far will ride into Dewey for the event.
"It took us about 5 and a half hours to get here. We came down for the running of the bull. It's my first time here," Joe Marcus from New York said.
Though people are concerned about the crowd size and the amount of alcohol consumption.
But starboard management says they have it under control.
"You'll see backed up here piled up we've got about 400 cases of bottled water. We give out food. We give out drinks. We keep people hydrated. They have fun. Dewey's a professional town. We've learned a lot in 20 years on how to handle it and how not to handle it. You know you learn from your mistakes," Montgomery said.
Kids will even have their own family friendly running of the bull on the beach.
"Kinda talk about the history of the running of the bull in Spain. We talk about flamingo dancing. We do dances. Then the kids line up and the bull runs," said Kelly Ranieri of the Dewey Business Partnership.
Even though tomorrow will be one big party. It also raises money for a good cause.
"We always raise 6 to 10 thousand dollars for the volunteer fire department. So everybody is very generous giving money to that. So that's a great part of it," said Montgomery.
The kids running of the bull will take place on Sunday. Some of the money raised will go to the Rehoboth Beach Fire Department.
