(MARYLAND.)- The Lieutenant Governor election in Maryland is between Boyd Rutherford and Ken Ulman.
The duty of the Lieutenant Governor is to oversee the movement of legislation through the chambers.
The Lieutenant Governor is the second highest elected official in the state and can take over as Governor if necessary.
Boyd Rutherford has served as an Associate Administrator for the U.S General Services Administration and as an attorney.
Rutherford was also nominated by former President George W. Bush as an Assistant Secretary in the Agriculture Department.
Before that he served as the Maryland Department of General Services Secretary.
Ken Ulman is the youngest person in Maryland ever to be elected as the County Executive.
Ulman is president of the National Democratic County Officials, with goals to improve the environment and education.
