Employees Selling Marijuana at the Celtic Pub in Smyrna Lead to Several Arrests

(SMYRNA, Del.) - The Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Enforcement received information from the Smyrna Police Department alleging that drugs were being sold inside of The Celtic Pub, located at 699 Jimmy Drive in Smyrna.

DATE and Smyrna Police launched a joint investigation into the Celtic Pub. During the course of an undercover investigation, multiple employees of the Celtic Pub were found to be involved in and/or had direct knowledge of the sales of marijuana inside of the business.

A DATE agent was able to secure separate purchases of marijuana from employees 31-year-old Travis Boutin, of Smyrna, and 31-year-old Nicole Blanchfield, of Townsend, while they were working at The Celtic Pub. A bartender, 42-year-old Amy Anderson, of Smyrna, was also observed serving more than one alcoholic beverage after last call, as well as after 1 a.m. in violation of the state's liquor control act.

On March 24, several DATE agents and Smyrna police officers executed a search warrant at The Celtic Pub and arrested Boutin, Blanchfield and Anderson without incident. Boutin was found to be in possession of $1,031 in cash, which was seized. A second search warrant was executed at Travis Boutin's residence located in the 500 block of Barley Court in Smyrna.

While inside Boutin's residence, another tenant, Andrew Spear, 30, of Smyrna was found to be in possession of marijuana, two loaded handguns and a switchblade. Spear was taken into custody without incident.

Further investigation revealed that Nathan Muldowney, 31, of Earleville, Maryland, was also involved in marijuana distribution in and around The Celtic Pub. Muldowney, who is unemployed, was arrested at a nearby residence and was found to be in possession of $7,963 in cash, all of which was seized.

All defendants listed were arrested and later released under unsecured bonds after arraignment at Justice of the Peace Court #7. Several liquor license violations for similar charges will also be forthcoming against the Celtic Pub. The investigation remains ongoing.
