Funland Preparing to Fully Reopen on Thursday July 8

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. - Funland has been open with COVID-19 protocols since May. Now, the amusement park is fully reopening on Thursday, and all of the traditions will be back. On Wednesday, Funland closed it doors for the day to prepare for reopening.

Employees spent Wednesday afternoon putting the final touches on the amusement park.

“We’re taking the day to reset the park to sort of a traditional model. All those gates are coming down, the ticket booths are getting clean, and all the signage is coming back up, so we just wanted to make sure we were really ready for tomorrow,” said Chris Darr, personnel manager and 4th generation family member at Funland.

There are no more reservations or capacity limit.

"You can wander in, you can wander out, just like people could do for the previous 58 years,” said Darr.

Queue lines are in place, games are no longer separate from the rides and green tickets are back.

"They can bring their old tickets back that are still good or see us at the ticket booth to buy new tickets,” said Darr.

Unfortunately, the jungle will remain closed due to staffing shortages. But everything else is back to business as usual, and there's one new change that is sticking around: wristbands.

"People really loved the wristband. So we are offering a wristband in the afternoons from 1 to 4. It's $20. You can ride all the rides that we have open for $20. It's a great value … And hopefully people can enjoy the park when it’s not so busy,” said Darr.

Funland is bringing normalcy back to the nation’s summer capital.

"This time last year we were still closed, we weren't even open  ... we are excited to welcome everyone back to what they really remember,” said Darr.

Funland opens at 1 p.m. everyday. rides will be closed at 10:30 p.m. and games will be closed at 11.
