The excitement is building as Special Olympics Delaware prepares to host its 54th Annual Summer Games on June 13–14, the organization’s largest sporting event of the year. Over 900 athletes and Unified partners, along with 240 coaches, will come together to compete in six different sports across a thrilling two-day celebration of inclusion, determination, and athleticism. But with an event of this size, volunteers are absolutely essential—and over 250 spots still need to be filled, especially on Saturday, June 14. Volunteers help bring the Games to life and ensure every athlete has the support they need to succeed. Delaware stands out as the only state in the nation to offer completely free year-round training and competition for athletes with intellectual disabilities—a unique achievement made possible by the generosity of the community.
