Junior Golf Circuit Players Take Part In 45 Hole Friendly Tournament For Alzheimer's Association

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.- Twelve of the best junior girls' golfers in the country hit the links for a worthy cause.

The Inaugural Ace Cup, Battle of the Beach was a two day event at Kings Creek Country Club in Rehoboth Beach to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association. The Junior Golf Circuit players split into two teams with three rounds of play. On Friday, the tournament opened with A 4-ball 18 hole round followed by a nine hole alternate shot match. Today, the ladies squared off in singles match play. The invitational honoring golfer Sawyer Brockstedt's grandmother who suffers from Alzheimer’s.

"Every family that I know of has been struck or hit hard by Alzheimer’s," Sawyer's father Chase said. "And so, partnering with the Alzheimer’s Association and raising money for that organization is something near and dear to our heart. We have a family member that has recently been diagnosed suffering from the disease. And so, this is a way that the kids can learn about charitable giving and we can give back."

The Ace Cup team has raised over $66,000 as part of the Longest Yard fundraiser, an event that comes together nationwide on the day with the most light which is June 20.
