LEWES, Del. - Lewes in Bloom’s “Bucks for Bloom” fundraiser has met its goal.
The giant wooden tulip is now complete, after painting the final marker of $50,000. The "Bucks for Bloom" fundraiser was created to help the organization financially, and as a way to continue to beautify the city of Lewes.
Lewes in Bloom Co-chair Dianne Stevens, said they plan to use this money to help plant items for the Fall and Winter season.
"We're so excited, everyone is so excited. When we started this we honestly thought it would take at least a couple months to get close to our goal, but when our founder Warren suggested we reach for $50,000 we all thought he was a little crazy, but he lived up to his reputation. He’s not crazy though, he just said ‘You can do it. I know you can do it,’” said Stevens.
Stevens said they will continue to accept donations if more people want to keep giving.
