Lewes Photographer Kyle Kaminski Pleads Guilty to Assault Charges

LEWES, Del. - Prominent Beach Photographer Kyle Kaminski plead guilty to two counts of assault third degree, giving up his right to a trial on Tuesday.

31-year-old Kaminski of Milton will be on probation for one year, but if he violates probation, he could serve one year in prison. He's also required to complete an anger management program and is forbidden from contacting his former girlfriend, the victim in this case. While Kaminski said on Tuesday that he knows he was in the wrong, his former girlfriend says she hopes his sentencing will keep him from ever hurting another woman.

Kaminski was arrested on February 2nd and charged with two counts of third-degree assault and 1 count of offensive touching. Court documents from Kaminski's arrest earlier this year say he violently grabbed his now former girlfriend's face, threw her into a garage door, and in a separate incident, bit her. Kaminski's attorney said in court his client takes responsibility.

Kaminski said in court, "I am absolutely disgusted by my actions and my character flaws as a man and I am taking the active decision to better myself for the people that are around me, that care about me and be the man that I can be."

His former girlfriend and former business partner says him pleading guilty brings her relief. She says she feels like this is a step towards him taking accountability for his actions. She also told detectives Kaminski raped her and threatened to kill himself.

"Although I'm not confident Kyle can change based on his personality disorder, I hope that the knowledge that he will not get away with this again without going to jail will be enough of an incentive for him to never put his hands on another woman again," Kaminski's former girlfriend says.

Kaminski's attorney said he wanted the court to know his client's relationship continued even after the alleged attacks. He says his client is already in anger management classes.

Kaminski says he feels like he is making progress and wishes his former girlfriend happiness. His former girlfriend thanked the court for giving her a voice after she says she had been silenced for so long. Both Kaminski and his former girlfriend say they're looking forward to moving on as this case wraps up.
