LEWES, Del.- Restaurant workers have faced major challenges over the course of the pandemic such as restrictions, mask wearing, and putting their safety at risk.
With a focus on getting frontline workers vaccinated in Delaware, SoDel Concepts was able to set up a clinic specifically for restaurant employees. Beebe Healthcare was on site to administer vaccines and monitor patients as they came through.
SoDel Concepts Public Relations Manager Nelia Dolan says the event is a step in the right direction for the workers' safety.
"We are just trying to do our part so restaurants are back open and the guys working in the kitchen can take off their masks because that's really difficult," Dolan said. "Things could get back to normal. So we were happy to host the event."
With the Easter holiday six days away, the CDC has released new guidance on travel and safety for vaccinated and unvaccinated people. Beebe Healthcare Infectious Disease Physician Dr. Bill Chasanov explains who can be with each other and with what precautions.
"If I am vaccinated and I have my home that's all vaccinated and your home is not completely vaccinated, according to that guidance, we would be fine to spend some time together over the holidays without a mask and without the physical distancing," Dr. Chasanov said.
However, the CDC does not recommend having a second unvaccinated household in the same place for gatherings as medium to large attended events are still considered unsafe.
Vaccines are helping during the pandemic, but being safe is still something everyone needs to be mindful of.
