(MILLSBORO, Del.) - Why give a dog a bone when you can give them a gourmet dog treat?
That's exactly what budding entrepreneur Lisa St. Clair does in Millsboro full-time with Tail Bangers, a gourmet dog treat bakery.
"Everything that we do is all natural," said St. Clair. "You can eat anything that we make here. We don't use any soy or corn or preservatives."
Starting out in St. Clair's shed in 2003, Tail Bangers has grown from humble beginnings into a nationally-known bakery.
"We sell primarily to pet stores. We sell to about 2,000 stores across the country now."
St. Clair explained to WRDE how the process works.
"We cut out about 26,000 dog treats a day. They come to the decorating table and it gets decorated. Then it goes on to boxing. We ship out about 50 stores to 75 stores a day," she said.
That's a lot of doggone treats, plenty of which pet owners love to give their four-legged friends. The public is encouraged to set up appointments to tour the Tail Bangers factory, as well as host birthday parties, school visits and even parties for dogs.
