SUSSEX COUNTY, Del. - The Movies at Midway and the Milton Theatre are completing some final touches before they open the week of June 1st.
The Movies at Midway has released a list of changes ahead of its reopen date on June 1st. The co-owner encourages customers to read it before coming in as a way to reduce traffic inside the theater.
"We will only be at 30% capacity. No cash, credit cards only. We'll have all the social distancing partitions, auditoriums will be blocked off every other row, so nobody will be sitting in front of you and behind you. And we’ll kindly ask that you keep a minimum of two seats between you and any other guest,” says Tiffany Derrickson, co-owner of The Movies at Midway.
"We did actually at the end of march we put in all new seats. So while we have been closed we've been busy cleaning and upgrading the theater here,” says Derrickson.
Masks can be removed while watching a film in the auditorium, but as soon as you leave your seat, it must be back on.
The Milton Theatre is planning a soft reopening for June 3rd. "It's going to be a test, if people are ready to join us we understand that not everyone is ready to go out. We respect that, we understand, but to those who are ready to go out we are going to be here. We are going to be open,” says Milton Theatre Marketing Director, JP Lacap.
The theater is limited to 30% capacity, which is 80 - 90 people.
"Tickets are only available exclusively over the phone … we just launched a mobile site where people can order stuff at our bar without even leaving their seat,” says Lacap.
Plexiglass has been installed, and hand sanitizer will be readily available. Tape will be placed on the floors to make sure people social distance and a divider will also be installed to separate the box office from the bar.
"If they (customers) do plan to come and enjoy the theater, they are rest assured that they will be doing doing so in a place that has their safety and health at the utmost importance,” says Lacap.
The Milton Theatre will be screening the “Wizard of Oz” on the first day of the soft reopening, and “Raiders of The Lost Ark” on June 4th.
On June 2nd, the Milton Theatre is hosting what Lacap calls a “Downtown Milton Reopening Happy Hour,” from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
