Ana Sofía Román joined the CoastTV team as a bilingual reporter in September 2022. Among the stories she covers are immigration, local government, affordable housing, growth and development, and issues affecting communities across Delmarva. In addition to her reporting for CoastTV, Ana Sofía reports for its sister station, Telemundo Delmarva, where she also produces and anchors daily news updates.
Her reporting with Telemundo Delmarva has earned regional recognition, including a Capital Emmy Award for Esperanza Bajo ICE (Faith Under ICE), an exclusive series chronicling Easton pastor Daniel Fuentes Espinal's experience after he was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. She also received a Chesapeake Associated Press Broadcasters Association Award for Best Enterprise Reporting after securing an exclusive interview on worker concerns following a chemical incident at a poultry processing plant.
She is a member of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences' National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter (Capital Emmys) and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. She also serves on the Capital Emmys Board of Governors.
Beyond the newsroom, Ana Sofía is active in the community as an emcee and keynote speaker at events throughout Delmarva.
Before joining CoastTV, Ana Sofía worked at NBC4 in Washington, D.C., where she began as a production assistant before later taking on the additional role of weekend assignment editor. She previously interned at Telemundo 44 in Washington, D.C., where she further developed her passion for journalism.
She graduated from American University with a bachelor's degree in journalism and double minors in marketing and leadership and management.
Originally from Puerto Rico, Ana Sofía enjoys exploring Delmarva's coastal communities, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
