DELAWARE- Delaware students now have the opportunity to showcase their creativity and celebrate history-making women through the “Celebrating Delaware Women: Voices of Inspiration” student video contest. The contest is hosted by the Delaware Department of Human Resources’ Office of Women’s Advancement and Advocacy and the Delaware Women’s Hall of Fame Committee.
The contest is open to children aged 8 to 13 and encourages participants to submit original, 1–3-minute videos highlighting the life and accomplishments of an inductee from the Delaware Women’s Hall of Fame. Organizers say there are over 150 women to choose from.
“We want to hear directly from our youth about the women who inspire them,” said Brenda Wise, chair of the Delaware Women’s Hall of Fame Committee. “This contest is a celebration of leadership, resilience, and the voices of Delaware women who have made history and continue to make a difference. We are eager to learn how their stories have impacted Delaware’s youth today.”
Two winners will be selected—one from the 8–10 age group and another from the 11–13 age group. According to officials, each winner will receive a $100 gift card, two tickets to the Delaware Women’s Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Oct. 8, and special recognition from the Office of Women’s Advancement and Advocacy. Select videos may also be featured on the office’s website and social media platforms.
Key dates include:
- Submission deadline: Aug. 31, 2025
- Winners notified: By Sept. 15, 2025
- Public announcement of winners: Sept. 17, 2025
To enter, students must research a Delaware Women’s Hall of Fame inductee, create a video showcasing her contributions, upload it to YouTube, and complete the online entry form. A signed video release form is also required for each child appearing in the video.
The contest offers a unique way for children to get engaged during summer while learning about the trailblazers who have paved the way in Delaware.
