REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.- Black Friday. The day of long lines and spending money but not as much as usual.
Big discounts were visible all around Tanger Outlets Friday and shoppers like Abby and Sydney Audlin of Baltimore County and Anna Isliarik of Lewes took advantage.
"Steve Madden boots, I got like four of them. One is being shipped home," Abby said.
"I would say Le Creuset," Sydney said. "It’s 35 percent off storewide and as a baker that’s something that I really like to use."
"I went into Famous Footwear and got a pair of boots that were 50 percent off the original price," Isliarik said. "I also went to Francesca’s, my favorite store, and it’s buy one item and get the second item seventy percent off."
It has been a bit tame at Tanger over the last few weeks but Marketing Director Trisha Kashner says Black Friday lived up to its hype.
"It’s been kinda quiet and we were a little worried about Black Friday and all this traffic but it is very busy," Kashner said. "Traffic is backed up on Route 1 coming into the outlets at all of our locations so we’re really happy."
While Black Friday is all about shopping for those deals, some people decided to take some time and give blood. The Blood Bank of Delmarva and Bayhealth are partnering for their "O For A Cup Of Joe" campaign in which shoppers got a free cup of coffee. They can also register to give blood until March and have a chance to win a MacBook or one of $100 gift cards.
The blood bank still has an urgent need for donations. Bayhealth Marketing Operations Manager Amanda Bowie says there are always people who need blood and this campaign should push more donors to give.
"At Bayhealth we are caring for thousands of patients every day and many of them need blood, need transfusions and it’s important for us to partner again with the blood bank to make sure our patients have what they need," Bowie said.
Schellville is open Thursdays through Sundays behind Tanger Outlets Seaside. Also, the Elf On The Shelf Scavenger Hunt is going on at Tanger through Christmas Eve. Many stores at the outlets have Black Friday deals all weekend and will have sales throughout the rest of the season.
