OCEAN CITY, Md.- Whether at ground level or at the top of a hotel, the Ocean City Air Show’s first day of performances was jaw dropping for viewers.

Director of Public Relations Chris Dirato says it is closer to normal than the previous one in August of 2020.

"It’s not the same as we have it this year," Dirato said. "I mean we weren’t able to do any chalets on the beach or anything of magnitude other than the show itself. This year, we have a full boat if you will of activities and we are having a great time."

For performers like the Air Force Thunderbirds, this year is an opportunity to get back to a full schedule of air shows. On Friday, advanced pilot and narrator Major Jason Markzon said it feels right getting back to a consistent load of shows.

"The whole job of the Thunderbirds is to recruit, retain, and inspire," Markzon said. "And it’s good to see people out there again that we can inspire and talk to and share their stories with."

There were many boats on the water with people watching the planes as they flew by. Viewers like Josh Mannich of Lansdale, Pennsylvania says that this show is a great example of showcasing our military and other talented flyers.

"It shows how much training and time goes into our military service and stuff like that and you just appreciate it," Mannich said. "And just to be around so many people it just feels like we are getting closer to normalcy again."

Spins, flips, and fly-bys all for the crowd to enjoy and they will get to do it all over again Sunday afternoon. Day 2 kicks off at Noon. The center of the action is on the boardwalk at 16th Street.
