Ocean City Beach Patrol Gives Tips During Delmarva Heat Wave

(OCEAN CITY, MD.) - The heat wave continues on Delmarva and Ocean City Beach Patrol are looking for signs of heat-related illnesses.

Beach Patroller Sgt. Jamie Falcon has been a lifeguard for over 15 years and has seen it all.

"What we try to advise people to do is too sure that they are drinking plenty of fluids, that's water. That they keep themselves cool, shaded, use their umbrella and if they ever have any doubts make sure they communicate us the lifeguard right away." Said Falcon.

The heat wave is on its third day in a row with the ninety-degree weather. Residents and visitors to the Delmarva region are experiencing the summer's first heat wave.

"I would suggest making sure you have plenty of sunblocks, especially for the little ones. You wanna have a good day at the beach, so you would be miserable when you get back to your room the bed. And plenty of water to keep hydrated." Said beach goer Tara Moore.

Ocean City Lifeguards say there are symptoms for heat stroke to look out for. "If you start to fell lightheaded, nauseated or just not well maybe consider the possibility that you are facing heat exhaustion drink your fluids," says Sgt. Falcon.

Some travelers would say summer has officially started in the Delmarva region.
