The finish line is getting closer at the Paralympics Games with only three days of competition left. But sports fans can still feast until Sunday. Medals are on offer in 10 Paralympic sports on Friday, including plenty in track and field at Stade de France. There are men’s and women’s titles in cycling road racing in nearby Clichy-sous-Bois and the women’s wheelchair final takes place at Roland Garros, home to the French Open. Iran is favorite to retain its title in the men’s sitting volleyball final at North Paris Arena. Here’s a closer look at some of what’s coming up.

Hockey star Brianna Decker, former NHL players Kevin Stevens and Matt Cullen, late Chicago Blackhawks founder Frederic McLaughlin and the 2002 Olympic gold medal-winning paralympic sled hockey team are being inducted into the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame. USA Hockey revealed the class on Thursday for enshrinement at a ceremony Dec. 4 in Pittsburgh. Decker helped the U.S. win Olympic gold in South Korea in 2018 and was part of silver medal teams in 2014 and 2022 before a broken leg and torn ligaments in her ankle knocked her out of the tournament in Beijing.

Olympic runner Rebecca Cheptegei’s horrific death after being doused with petrol and set on fire by her boyfriend has again brought to the fore Kenya’s tragic history of domestic violence against female athletes. Cheptegei, who was 33, was from Uganda and competed in the marathon at the Paris Olympics less than a month ago. She lived in western Kenya’s famous high-altitude training region that draws the best distance runners from across the world. Her death follows those of at least two other high-profile female runners, killed in cases of domestic violence in the last three years in the region that's produced dozens of Olympic and world champions.

Ugandan Olympic athlete Rebecca Cheptegei has died at a Kenyan hospital where she was being treated after sustaining 80% burns on her body due to an attack by her partner. A spokesperson at the hospital, Owen Menach, confirmed her death on Thursday. Cheptegei was receiving treatment at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret city. Police say Cheptegei’s partner, Dickson Ndiema, bought a jerrican of petrol, poured it on her and set her ablaze during a disagreement Sunday. A report filed by the local chief states that the couple was heard fighting over the land where the house was built before the fire started.

The con artist convicted of swindling banks, hotels and friends in 2019 after falsely building a reputation as a wealthy German heiress, Anna Sorokin will now star in the upcoming season of “Dancing With the Stars.” Sorokin is currently under house arrest amid a deportation fight, with immigration authorities claiming she overstayed her visa and must be returned to her native Germany. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has not confirmed any changes to Sorokin’s house arrest conditions to accommodate filming the competition dance show in Los Angeles. Sorokin joins Olympians Stephen Nedoroscik and Ilona Maher, Dwight Howard, “Bachelorette” Jenn Tran and others on the show's 33rd season, which premieres Sept. 17 on ABC and Disney+.

Jarryd Wallace and Noelle Lambert begin competition at the Paralympics in the long jump Wednesday and Thursday respectively. Wallace is a Paralympic veteran, Lambert a newbie. Wallace has become a mentor to Lambert as they both get ready to compete in the long jump for the first time at the games. They both have transitioned from success in the sprints and are excited to be in a full Stade de France after the airless atmosphere of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.

Kelsey Mitchell has been a huge part of the Indiana Fever’s resurgence post-Olympic break. The team has won six of its seven games and is over .500 for the first time since June, 2019. The Fever, who improved to 17-16 with Sunday’s win over Dallas, had gone an WNBA-record 189 straight games without a winning record, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. Indiana currently is sixth in the standings and closing in on its first playoff berth since 2016. Mitchell is one of the few players left on the roster from the Fever’s lean years.

A Ugandan athlete has been attacked and set on fire by her boyfriend and is being treated for burns on 75% of her body. Rebecca Cheptegei, who finished at the 44th position in the 2024 Paris Olympics, was attacked in her home in western Kenya. Police say Cheptegei’s boyfriend bought a jerrican of petrol, poured it on her and set her ablaze during a disagreement Sunday. He also sustained burn wounds and the two are receiving specialized treatment at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret city.

Caitlin Clark had a career-high 31 points and 12 assists in her final regular-season matchup with fellow rookie sensation Angel Reese, leading the Indiana Fever to a dominating 100-81 win over the reeling Chicago Sky. Clark shot 8 for 14, including 5 for 9 from 3-point range, in her 11th double-double. She is the only player to ever have three games of at least 25 points and 10 rebounds in a season. On the other side, Reese  had 10 points and 11 rebounds, breaking a tie with Tina Charles for rookie double-doubles with 23 and passing Sylvia Fowles for the Chicago season record. The Fever (16-16) beat the Sky (11-20) for the third time in four matchups, solidifying their probable playoff berth while Chicago is barely hanging on to the last spot as the season winds down.

The hockey world was not alone in sending immediate and heartfelt condolences following the announcement that Columbus Blue Jackets star Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew Gaudreau died when, according to police, they were hit by a suspected drunken driver while riding bicycles in their home state of New Jersey. NBA star LeBron James, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and Columbus' Major League Soccer team also quickly added their voices to the list of mourners.
