(CHESAPEAKE BAY, MD.)- A driver has reportedly jumped from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge into frigid water after abandoning a vehicle on Eastbound span.
Police in Anne Arundel County say the incident happened just after noon Wednesday. Crews are now combing through the bay, searching for the victim. Due to the circumstance, the Maryland State Highway Administration has closed one lane on the Eastbound span.
Officials are having a hard time, largely because most of the bay remains frozen.
The Bay Bridge is a major dual-span bridge in Maryland that spans over the Chesapeake Bay, connecting the Eastern Shore.
