At least 25 people, mostly teenagers, have died in a traffic accident in Cape Verde, according to local media and officials. The accident happened Saturday on the Campanas de Cima route in Fogo Island and involved a passenger bus. Several people were also injured. Cape Verde's president, José Maria Pereira Neves, called it “a great catastrophe” in a statement on his Facebook page. Local media report that seven bodies were immediately buried due to their condition. Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the accident. The president and other officials are expected to visit the island on Sunday.
