Colombian electoral authorities have declared Abelardo de la Espriella the winner of Sunday’s presidential runoff. The businessman and lawyer endorsed by U.S. President Donald Trump received more than 251,000 more votes than his rival, progressive lawmaker Iván Cepeda. The result announced Wednesday is seen as an indictment of outgoing President Gustavo Petro’s government. Cepeda had promised to continue Petro’s policies, including efforts to establish dialogue with armed groups.
