Florida, Indiana and Alabama are scheduled to carry out executions Thursday. It's the second time this year that three people will be put to death on the same day. It will also be Florida’s 19th execution in 2026 but the first this year in Indiana, where the death penalty is not as common. The condemned on death row are Jeffrey Weisheit in Indiana, Jesse Guardado in Florida and Michael Taylor in Alabama. Their guilt in murders has not been disputed, though lawyers and other advocates have cited reasons they should be given life sentences instead. The governors of Indiana, Florida and Alabama have declined.
