* At 306 PM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was located over Slaughter
Beach, moving northeast at 20 knots.

HAZARD...Wind gusts to 40 knots.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and
suddenly higher waves.

* Locations impacted include...
Fortesque Beach, Brown Shoal Light, Sea Breeze, Fourteen Foot Bank
Light, Slaughter Beach, Cape Henlopen, East Point, Miah Maull
Light, Brandywine Shoal Light, and Cross Ledge Light.

Frequent lightning is occurring with this storm. If caught on the
open water, stay below deck if possible and keep away from ungrounded

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 106 expected.

* WHERE...In Delaware, Kent and Inland Sussex Counties. In Maryland,
Caroline, Kent MD, Queen Annes, and Talbot Counties. In New
Jersey, Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, and Salem Counties.

* WHEN...From 10 AM to 8 PM EDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM EDT THIS MORNING THROUGH THIS
EVENING...

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

* WHERE...Portions of Delaware, including the following areas,
Inland Sussex, Kent and New Castle and northeast Maryland,
including the following areas, Caroline, Kent MD, Queen Annes and
Talbot.

* WHEN...From 10 AM EDT this morning through this evening.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- The remnants of Chantal will move into the Mid Atlantic this
morning bringing areas of heavy rain. The tropical airmass
will bring generally 1 to 2 inches of rainfall across the
urban corridor but will have the potential to bring isolated
amounts up to 5 inches leading to flash flooding. The showers
and thunderstorms will generally come to an end by 7 to 8 pm
this evening with any residual flooding from showers today
coming to an end during the overnight hours.

Delaware ends surf fishing reservations for many beaches starting July 12

Anglers will soon have more freedom to fish without planning ahead, as the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control announced it will drop surf fishing reservations at several drive-on beaches starting Saturday, July 12.
