U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has held talks with Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar in Mumbai. The two countries are working to deepen energy cooperation and finalize a trade deal. The visit comes as New Delhi and Washington try to revive trade negotiations stalled by U.S. tariffs and India’s purchases of Russian oil. India’s foreign ministry said the talks covered energy, trade, investment, and defense. Despite tensions, the two countries continue to deepen defense and technology ties. Rubio indicated that the U.S. and India are nearing completion of a trade agreement. He is scheduled to visit Reliance Industries’ refinery in Jamnagar, Gujarat on Wednesday.
