While the swim didn't kick off until around 12:30 p.m., some people arrived as early as 5 a.m. to get a great spot to catch the action. 

The Museum of Chincoteague is currently raising money in hopes of reconstructing the beloved Beebe Barn, which burned down in 2019. Until Saturday, the museum will sell artwork that uses the siding of the original ranch to fund reconstruction.

A pony that is purchased but stays with the wild horses, also known as a "buy back," is normally auctioned off after the pony swim. However this year the firemen decided to do that early to help a local organization that is special to the 'Misty of Chincoteague' book.

Many people came together Friday morning to make Chincoteague history. After months of fundraising and community support, the Museum of Chincoteague Island officially bought the Beebe Ranch.
