JJ Watt will continue to be the analyst on CBS Sports’ lead NFL team after signing a new multi-year agreement with the network. Watt joined play-by-play announcer Jim Nantz and sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson after Tony Romo went on leave following his July 23 arrest in Wisconsin. CBS announced on Oct. 2 that Romo would not return after the two sides “agreed to part ways.” Romo had been the lead game analyst for CBS’ NFL coverage since 2017. Watt joined CBS Sports in 2023 as a studio analyst on “The NFL Today” studio show following a 12-year career with the Houston Texans and Arizona Cardinals.

Yaxel Lendeborg has only played one NBA game, and he’s already started a feisty feud with Luka Doncic. The Golden State Warriors rookie began his career by refusing to back down from the reigning NBA scoring champion, who punctuated their prolonged on-court exchange of trash talk by making a spectacular half-court shot in Lendeborg’s face at the halftime buzzer. Even after the Warriors were blown out by the Los Angeles Lakers, Lendeborg called out the six-time All-Star as a complainer and a free-throw merchant during his postgame news conference.

With fans chanting “We don’t need you!,” the Ottawa Senators defeated Brady Tkachuk and his Florida Panthers 5-1 on Wednesday night. Tkachuk, who spent eight seasons in Ottawa, including five as captain, was given a hostile reception in his return. He was booed regularly and the crowd aimed chants at him throughout the evening. A number of fans even threw Tkachuk jerseys on the ice. The Senators lost goaltender Linus Ullmark to an apparent injury early in the third period. Ullmark, who allowed one goal on 18 shots, made a pad save on Tkachuk and then needed assistance getting off the ice. Tim Stutzle, Claude Giroux, Shane Pinto, Warren Foegele and Stephen Halliday scored for Ottawa. Tkachuk scored the lone goal for the Panthers, who had won three straight.
