Lawyers for the BBC and Donald Trump are in court arguing over whether former special counsel Jack Smith should be deposed in Trump’s $10 billion defamation case against the British broadcaster. Trump strongly opposes the possibility.  The parties are also expected to address when Trump will appear for his own deposition. The BBC asked the judge to compel Trump to appear after he canceled an agreed date, they said, citing “matters of national importance.” Trump filed his lawsuit against the BBC last December, accusing the broadcaster of defaming him in a documentary. The BBC apologized over the way the documentary was edited but denies it defamed Trump.
