Two U.S. Navy aviators ejected while landing their plane on the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower aircraft carrier off Virginia's coast. Both aviators assigned to Carrier Air Wing 3 were rescued Monday and are being evaluated by medical personnel. Four sailors aboard the ship were also injured with one transported to a Norfolk, Virginia, hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The Navy described Monday's accident as a “mishap.” The type of plane involved or the cause has not been disclosed. The USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, a nuclear-powered Nimitz-class carrier, was commissioned in 1977.
