UD Announces That Most of Fall Semester Will be Virtual Learning

NEWARK, Del.- The University of Delaware plans to conduct a majority of the classes in the upcoming fall semester online.  In a statement released Wednesday afternoon, UD President Dennis Assanis cited the increase of asymptomatic COVID-19 cases and the state's failure to move into Phase Three of its recovery as main reasons for the decision. There are some small exceptions that require face-to-face instruction for academic progress, such as nursing practice and certain engineering labs, animal handling courses, phlebotomy practicum experiences and one-to-one music instruction, as well as select courses for members of our international student community and others with very specific needs. Despite the lack of in-person learning, the university is not planning on lowering tuition costs for the fall semester.  The university listed the following key dates: Aug. 3 -  the Registrar’s Office will notify students that their fall schedules are available for review on WebReg. Aug. 10 - the start of open enrollment Sept. 1 - first day of classes Dec 12-18 - final exams Click here for Assanis' full announcement.
