UPDATE: Parkside High Mourns the Loss of Salisbury Student

(SALISBURY, Md.)- Students, family and friends are mourning the death of a student in Salisbury. The Wicomico County Bureau of Investigation is investigating the circumstances of the death of Cameron Dashiell, 16.

According to the Wicomico Bureau of Investigation (WBI), preliminary autopsy reports indicate that the death of a local youth on the Salisbury University campus was medically-related.

He was found late Sunday afternoon, according to police. Emergency Medical Services was called; however, he was unresponsive and pronounced dead at PRMC.

The WBI has been told that preliminary medical examinations show no signs of trauma to the body. The state Medical Examiner's Office in Baltimore will continue the autopsy, attempting to pinpoint the cause.

The WBI is also continuing to lead the investigation, with the cooperation of the SU Police and other agencies.

Wicomico County superintendent Dr. John Fredericksen said the following in a statement Monday morning, "Parkside High School and Wicomico County Public Schools are saddened by the passing on Sunday evening of Cameron Dashiell, 16, a student in his third year at Parkside High School. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends at this very difficult time."

He goes on to say, "Parkside High staff members were informed of Cameron's death this morning, and extra personnel are at Parkside today to provide support to students and staff. Support staff are also available at James M. Bennett High, where a number of Cameron's former classmates attend."
