DAGSBORO, Del - Following Gov. Carney's move to allow notarization to occur through video conferencing, real estate companies are finding ways to adjust amid social distancing.

SPN Title Services held a fully notarized online property settlement today to help a Sussex County family move into their new home. A first for SPN as well as the First State, according to the real estate company.

The virtual closing took place using Pavaso, an online platform that SPN says is more secure than most video conferencing sites. Users complete a series of authentication processes and electronic signatures are collected for necessary documents.

Stephen Norman, owner and Chief Attorney of SPN Title Services, sees going virtual as a viable option for the real estate industry even beyond mitigating the current pandemic.

He spoke of the benefits of the digital system saying, “you’re going to be able to do these closings quicker. You’re going to get documents that you can review ahead of time. There’s going to be so many pros compared to your traditional closings”.
