Wicomico County Is Giving To Meals On Wheels

(SALISBURY, Md.) - Wicomico County announced it will be giving money to the Meals On Wheels program which helps feed the elderly at MAC center in Salisbury.

"This year through our casual days, through Halloween dress up we allow the staff to do. When they give money, we will give that money to Meals On Wheels," said Bob Culver, Wicomico County Executive.

96-year-old Melvin Bradley is very thankful for Meals On Wheels and the MAC center which provides a plethora of services for those 55 and older including financial guidance, employment guidance and more.

"I'm able to come over to eat. That's the main thing. I don't like cooking," Bradley said.

"People come here. They enjoy their time. They're meeting new people and then they're finding out what might be available to them," Representative Mary Beth Carozza added.

"I appreciate the comradery, seeing all these people working so hard," Bradley said.

The MAC center and Meals On Wheels of the community socialize and have fun. Plus, the nutrition is vital.

"Great nutrition is important for all of us. My grandfather had a book that said we are what we eat," State Senator Jim Mathias said.

"Even though we need fewer calories as we get older, those calories need to be full of nutrients, and it's important for every bite that we eat to count," said Karla Beardsley of MAC.
