2015 Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival

(REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.)- The 27th Annual Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival is this weekend.

Lots of live concerts in locations along the coast from Dewey Beach to Lewes Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Starting at 11am on Rehoboth Avenue the Fralinger Mummers String Band performed live on the street right outside the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Department.

"I love the Mummers, every year they change their costumes, so I look at each one. I love how they involve the audience to dance with them," said Rachael Shapiro, attending the festival with her two girlfriends.

Rehoboth business owner, Joe Ciarlante-Zuber, said although the festival brings great business to Rehoboth and the surrounding areas the businesses that do even better are the ones providing extra entertainment.

At Dos Locos, Ciarlante-Zuber hires Jazz performers all weekend long to play at the restaurant.

"There's no cover. We have tables for people that just want to sit and enjoy the music. And they do eat and drink and spend money and that's part of the festival. They help cover the cost of the entertainment," Ciarlante-Zuber said.

Denny Santangini, president of the Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival, said this year unlike in the past shows have sold out and ticket sales are up 40%.

Bob Backman, President of WRDE TV, was hosting the performances at the Rehoboth Beach Fire Department location.

Backman explained why he feels it is important for the station to get involved:

"Any local events big or small that we can support and we can get behind we want to be a part of. This gives us an opportunity to talk to our viewers and find out what's going on in their minds as well as promote the Jazz Festival."

This year WRDE will be covering the Sea Witch Festival live next weekend.
