REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.- What was to be the 31st Sea Witch Festival will not take place in 2020. The Rehoboth Beach Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce on Monday announced on its Facebook page that this year's festival has been canceled.
The inability to meet Delaware's COVID-19 regulations and mandates was the reason organizers cited for not holding the popular event this year.
Sea Witch has become one of the largest festivals in the state of Delaware, regularly drawing more than 100,000 people into downtown Rehoboth Beach. The lack of people visiting the city in late October is another blow to the city's businesses already experiencing revenue losses from state and local restrictions.
Sea Witch organizers said they plan to hold next year's event Oct. 29-31.
