50-Year-Old Woman Shot in Torso During Salisbury Shooting

(SALISBURY, Md.)- A 50-year-old Salisbury woman is recovering this morning after being shot late Saturday evening. Salisbury Police are now investigating a shooting that occurred in the 400 block of Patterson Avenue.

Initial investigation revealed that a 50 year old victim sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to her upper torso, police said. Officers were called to respond to the 400 block of Patterson Avenue for reports of shots fired, on November 15, 2015 at approximately 12:02 am. Police arrived on the scene and immediately located the victim inside the residence.

Investigation revealed that the 50 year old victim is a current roommate of the suspect, Jeffrey Lamore Jones Sr. Police said, the victim reported that she and Jones have resided together and have been roommates for approximately 3 years.

Initial investigation revealed that the assault was unprovoked as Jones entered the victims bedroom, fired one gunshot at the victim which struck her in the upper torso, according to the incident report.

The suspect fled the residence on foot and was quickly located in the area of the 400 block of Patterson Avenue by responding officers. Jones was found to be in possession of the below pictured handgun as well as an undisclosed amount of marijuana and cocaine. Jones was arrested without incident and transported to the Wicomico County Detention Center where he is being held pending an initial bond review. The victim was transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center for her injuries which are considered serious, but not life-threatening.
