A Dorchester County Man has been charged with Arson

(Cambridge, Md) - A Dorchester County man has been arrested and charged with arson. The Fire Marshall's office determined that a 12' x 12' wood framed shed that was set on fire on March 18, 2016.

It happened just after 1 in the morning on the property belonging to Edward James at 1124 Taylors Island Road in Madison. Approximately ten firefighters responded from the Madison Volunteer Fire Department and controlled the blaze within 15 minutes. The subsequent investigation revealed the neighbor, Christopher Henry Whittle, 57 years old was responsible for setting the shed on fire. Damage estimates to the structure and contents was valued at $2,500 to replace.

Whittle was taken into custody Friday August 12, 2016 and is being held at the Dorchester County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond. He was charged with 2nd Degree Arson, 2nd Degree Malicious Burning and Malicious Destruction of Property.
