A Look at Which Southern Delaware Restaurants are moving, growing, and leaving.

SUSSEX COUNTY, Del.- Summer is coming and we are seeing it in the weather, the many visitors, and the busy streets. But this summer vacation might look a little different than last. Over the fall and winter, Sussex County restaurants have been busy moving, growing, and some even closing.

It may be gone, but not for long. The Pond has hopped out of downtown and over to Coastal Highway. The move hasn't taken long. The bar is expected to open April 5.

The old location in downtown isn't standing vacant. Freddie's Beach Bar and Restaurant is wasting no time, hoping to open by Memorial Day weekend. From brunch, to nightlife, the bar is sure to be full of glitter, color, and fun. It will even host drag bingo, drag shows, and karaoke nights. The restaurant is hiring right now for all positions.

"We welcome the families and the kids. At brunch the kids drag their parents in because they see the glitter and the glitz and they like it," said owner, Freddie Lutz.

Not far from The Pond's new location another restaurant preparing to open. Agave is just walking distance, also on Coastal Highway. What the restaurant calls the "Margarita Promisedland" is expected to open between late August and early September.

While some are opening their doors, others are closing. The Pickled Pig Pub announced it's closing. The restaurant posted on Facebook, "Goodnight Pickled Pig Pub! We've had a great run & will miss our awesome guests & staff. The Pig family has been the best..." But don't worry, Pig and Publican in Lewes is sticking around.

SoDel Concepts is growing even more. The restaurant group announced its second new restaurant in a matter of weeks. First, Matt's Fish Camp in Fenwick Island. Now, new construction in Ocean View. Ocean View Brewpub will make its debut spring of 2022, but construction is starting this May.
