Affordable Care Act Makes Tax Season More Taxing

(LEWES, Del.)- When you go to file your taxes this year you may notice an unfamiliar form. It's the 1095A.

The Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, is the reason for this new form.

You now have to provide your health care this tax season and it may be more difficult than you think.

"It's probably not easy, and if you don't know what you should have when your done with it," Said Deborah Stanley, Certified Public Accountant. "I think it's going to be very frustrating."

In addition to the 1095A, there are other forms you may have to fill out, depending on your tax bracket.

"Now a days if I didn't have a professional program I couldn't do a return either," Said Stanley. "So I think we're going to see more and more need with this."

Some 3 to 6 million Americans who did not get health insurance last year will now have to pay the price.

It will cost you $95 or 1 percent of your income. If you choose to remain uninsured in 2015 that fine will rise to $325 or 2 percent of your income.

The only people not subject to the insurance requirements are undocumented immigrants, low-income Americans and households whose insurance premiums were more than 8 percent of their income.
