(NEW CASTLE, Del.)- An Amber Alert has been issued Monday night for a 3-year-old girl who police say was abducted by her father her mother's New Castle home.
Police responded to a report of an alleged assault and abduction about 6:48 p.m. Monday. They say that's when officers discovered Michael Trotta, 39, had taken Elinor Trotta from her mother's home at the School Side Apartments on East Basin Road.
Officers say he got away in a 1989 Mazda 626, similar to the one pictured, bearing Delaware registration with the license plate number 247457. They believe he may have driven to New Jersey or New York City.
Detectives believe Elinor is in imminent danger because of comments made by her father.
They describe Elinor Trotta as a white girl, about 60 pounds and heavy set with short brown shoulder hair; last seen wearing a purple puffy coat, pink pants and sneakers branding from the Disney movie "Frozen."
As for Michael Trotta, he's described as being white, 5 feet 8 inches tall, approximately 160 pounds and having a balding short haircut, scruffy beard and mustache. He was last seen wearing all black clothing.
