Bargains On The Broadkill Will Take Place In 2020

MILTON, De - Milton's Chamber of Commerce going against the recent tide of event cancellations and announcing that the annual Bargains on the Broadkill is on for 2020.  This year's event will take place this year on Saturday, August 22nd from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the riverfront Milton Memorial Park in downtown Milton. Bargains on the Broadkill is being promoted as a regional festival, featuring vendors of art, crafts, goodies and food. The festival’s signature event, the Great Duck Race on the Broadkill, offers people the opportunity to win cash prize. Rubber duckies will be for sale in the weeks preceding the event and on the day of the event. The ducks will be released into the river at the end of the event, to comply with social distancing guidelines and eliminate overcrowding. In addition to the ducks, the festival also features the 21st annual Irish Eyes Canoe & Kayak Race.  In order to host the festival in a safe and healthy manner, organizers have established multiple guidelines that both vendors and attendees will be asked to follow. The full safety plan can be found on the Chamber website at www.historicmilton.com/event/bargains-on-the-broadkill/. Some of the highlights of the plan are that all vendors and attendees over 12 years old must wear a mask inside the event area, attendees are asked to practice social distancing inside the event area, and high-touch surfaces such as the restrooms will be sanitized once every half hour.
