Cape Signing Day

(LEWES, Del.)- It's been four years in the making for eight student-athletes at Cape Henlopen High School. On Wednesday the players signed their letters of intent on where they will be playing college sports after graduation.Senior Zack Gelof will be playing shortstop at the University Of Virginia.

"It is pretty awesome being up there with my family that supported me my whole life," said Gelof.

Cape Henlopen Athletic Director Bob Cilento said this was a big day for Cape Athletics, the players, and the families.

"It is an impressive group of kids, intelligent, great athletes going to good schools and they made Cape proud," said Cliento.

Baseball Manager Ben Evick said he is proud of five players who earned scholarships to play at the next level.

"They have been working hard since their freshman year for me, prior to that they have put in a lot of time and they earned everything they have gotten and they have continued to work hard in the weight room, continue to work hard in the weight room and it shows with them getting in the schools that they are getting into,"said Evick.

The Cape Vikings baseball team will start their season on Friday, March 23rd on the road against the Sussex Tech Ravens.
