SUSSEX COUNTY, Del.- Get out your phone, camera, or even an old photo album. Southern Delaware Tourism is hosting its annual Southern Delaware Photo Contest.
The ocean, bays, wild life, and a lot of history. With so much to photograph, Southern Delaware Tourism gets 300 submissions each year. This year, Karl Teel has the difficult task of judging them all.
"What about the lighting? What about the background? What about the foreground? A lot of times a great photograph has a really great foreground in front of it as well," said Teel.
Teel says you don't have to be a professional. Just get out your phone, and start snapping.
"A photograph is a moment in time and you're either ready to capture it or your not and when its gone, often times it's gone forever," said Teel.
Winners will get a two-night stay at a local hotel, gift cards, experiences, and more. Categories include Lifestyle, Wildlife, and the newest category, Souvenirs.Â
"To give people the opportunity who maybe didn't make it to the beach this summer to submit something and I think we will get some really interesting submissions. I'm excited to see what people send in," said Tina Coleman with Southern Delaware Tourism.
For the lifestyle category, at least one person needs to be in the photo and it must be taken in Sussex County. For the souvenir category, you must include a note about why it's your favorite souvenir and where you got it.
The contest is open now until March 12. The winners will be announced March 26. You can learn more and submit your photos here.Â
