CHEER Throws One Last Summer Bash

Buses were carting folks up and down Rehoboth Avenue today as CHEER Senior Center held its thirty-eighth annual beach day.

"All of it is to help encourage seniors to live healthier lifestyles at the same time to give them the opportunity to enjoy the end of the summer down here in Rehoboth Beach," said CHEER Executive Director, Ken Boch.

The event has plenty of food, fun and even live entertainment.

The day kicked off with a health and lifestyle expo at the convention center.

Visitors could stop by more than 50 vendor booths for lifestyle tips and information.

Folks could even get health screenings.

CHEER Executive Director Ken Boch says seniors look forward to the day all year.

FEEL GOOD FRIDAY

"To sit at the bandstand and hear great live performances, to be able to come in here and learn information that will help them in their lives and their homes, and to be able to get a free lunch and everything. A Friday in Rehoboth Beach that's a good deal," said Boch.

After seniors left the health expo they could venture down to the bandstand for some live music by rock and roller Jimmy Merchant.

"They feel great, i know they do. They feel great," said Norma Hall.

Norma hall is a cheer volunteer who attends the event every year.

Norma raises big bucks for CHEER each year by getting people to sponsor her for the cheer power walk.

This is another event at CHEER's beach day.

"It all ties together because it brings all the seniors together and visit each other. It's like a health fair," said Hall.

The day-long event honors seniors from all over and brings them together for a final day of summer fun.
