DEWEY BEACH, Del.- The Dewey Beach community is coming together. If you're on social media you may have noticed the hashtag "Dewey Strong" recently. This is in support of the owner of Dewey Beach Surf Shop who was hit by a drunk driver Friday night. Tyler Hudson is a loved friend, father, son, and business owner who is now battling on the road to recovery. Tyler's friends and family say he wouldn't want his business to stop because of this. That's why businesses from the area are showing up by supporting his business, and sending their love. Many signs in Dewey Beach showing their support. Reading "Get Well Tyler", and "Prayers For Tyler". His mother providing updates through Facebook posting this yesterday saying: "Good morning, just a quick update on Tyler. He is breathing on his own , able to move his arms and just his left leg. The right leg is in a cast with metal rods all around. He knew his name and recognized his girlfriend, Maddie Kelly and all of Us. He has several facial fractures but still is just as handsome, lol. They didn’t have to shave his head, which will make him happy but I think he could use a little hair cut. He does have brain trauma but as long as he remains calm and quiet, they say it will fix itself. Tyler knows how much you all love and care about him. We tell him how much you all have come out to support him. If you want to send cards and well wishes send them to this address and we will make sure he gets them. Make sure you give a shout out to Lauren Kelley for keeping DBSS going. She rocks!!!Dewey Beach Surf Shop2103 Unit B, Izzy PlazaDewey Beach, 19971Thanks to all of you and The Dewey Beach community for all the love!!!! #deweystrong" The Manager of his store, Dewey Beach Surf Shop says his family wants people to continue to support him, through his business. Lauren Kelley, the Manager Dewey Beach Surf Shop said, "They just want everyone to keep supporting the shop. They don't want to focus on you know the negative, they want to focus on the positive and promoting DBSS, and organizing fundraisers and events and stuff which we all have in the works." That's why other businesses are doing their part as well, like Soulfire Collective who is doing a give away of his stores merch, and donating a dollar for every comment on their post. All this because of who he is and how he treats others. Brooke and Kat Wyman, Co-Owners Soulfire Collective said, "He was just always so kind, always so helpful, he would do anything you needed, here's my phone number text me if your group needs anything for the bonfire, do you need help lugging stuff up to the beach, cleaning up from the bonfire he's just such an incredible person that we just wanted to do anything we could to support him." His family says Tyler knows how much he is loved, and thanks the community for the continued support. Dewey Beach Surf Shop says they are working out details on more ways to fundraise and help out, but for now people can come in and donate a little bit of money that will go to Tyler and his recovery.
